We just love all your collections; they are just a breath of fresh air in the bridal fashion world. Tell us a little more about what goes into putting a collection together…

Putting a collection together takes love, creativity and a lot of drive. It’s a frenzied six to eight-month process where we engage with our suppliers more than ever.

At a high level, the three main stages are design, creating patterns and making the gowns. The process is very fluid and my team are great at accommodating my spontaneous 5am ideas. At times, there’s also the tricky balancing act between fit and comfort with fabrics and design.

Sourcing new fabrics is one of my favourite things to do and is the most exciting part about starting a new collection. For me, fabric and fit are the two most important ingredients of a stunning gown.

What bridal trends can we begin to see coming through over the next few months?

We can expect to see the clean, minimal styles we saw in previous seasons. Brides are still asking for gowns with shorter trains in simple satins, crepes and subdued laces. They are however, leaning towards less traditional options like two-piece tops and skirts, corsets with exposed boning and structured shoulders.

What about colours and tones? To me nothing beats a classic white gown, but for those brides wanting to add some colour, what would you suggest?

For brides wanting to add some colour, the most flattering option is to choose one that compliments your skin tone. Colours such as blush, pearl and black which we’ve hand-picked for our collections, suit a wider variety of skin tones than your traditional white. Coloured gowns also make a statement without adding to your costs like embroidery or beading embellishments.

Tell us, what should a bride first consider when deciding on her gown?

Stay true to what you love. The one thing I hear consistently from brides who say yes to the dress is, “this feels like me.” Before you start your search, be clear on what you love – look in your wardrobe if you need a little reminder. It’s easy to be swayed by the opinions of others when you’re feeling overwhelmed or under pressure to find your dream dress.

The question that most brides battle with, veil or no veil?

This is an easy decision for me – yes to a veil. They complement almost every style of gown and elevates your look from stunning to breathtaking. They’re also very versatile. A short, structured veil can give you a cool, playful look while a long floor-sweeping veil looks elegant and romantic. I highly recommend trying one on before deciding if it’s for you.

And finally, words of advice to any bride finding it difficult to make the final decision on her gown.

Consider trying on a few more gowns that are completely different from the gowns you’re deciding between. This may seem counter-intuitive but sometimes seeing yourself in something different, makes you realise all the elements you like and can’t live without. If it becomes too stressful, take a break and don’t say yes unless you’re sure.
