"WE JUST LOVE THEIR LATEST COLLECTION SO MUCH THAT WE COULDN'T RESIST A CHAT".
MR THEODORE TALKS TO STEPHANIE SCOTT FROM ONE DAY BRIDAL ABOUT THEIR LATEST COLLECTION, EVOLVING TRENDS AND ANSWERS THAT ALL IMPORTANT QUESTION 'VEIL OR NO VEIL?'.

STEPHANIE, ONE DAY BRIDAL HAVE JUST LAUNCHED THEIR LATEST COLLECTION AND WE LOVE IT, IT’S JUST A BREATH OF FRESH IN BRIDAL FASHION. TELL US A LITTLE MORE ABOUT IT.

Each season our team looks to design a collection that is bigger and better than ever. We create designs that haven’t been seen in the bridal industry before and look to push the boundaries in every sense possible. The whole design process starts with the fabric and evolves from there.

This years collection we looked to fashion inspiration as opposed to the romanticism of weddings. We used bold styling with simple designs to create a capsule of gowns that translate to any type of wedding and suit a range a body shapes and styles.

We don’t set out necessarily to create wedding dresses but alternatively to create a beautiful gown for a bride to wear on her wedding day.

WHAT BRIDAL TRENDS CAN WE BEGIN TO SEE EVOLVE OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS?

We are always drawn to the extremes. We love the minimalist styles like our Sadie or Moss gowns and through the use of beautiful quality fabrics these gowns speak for themselves and call for a confident bride. We believe less is more but with gowns like these you can use your styling to add a little something extra.

On the other hand, we love gowns that take a step sideways from a more traditional bridal look. With the use of gold and silvers we love creating looks that are fun and represent the brides who just want a huge celebration as opposed to ‘wedding’.

WHAT ABOUT COLOURS AND TONES? TO ME NOTHING BEATS A CLASSIC WHITE GOWN, BUT FOR THOSE BRIDES WANTING TO ADD SOME COLOUR, WHAT WOULD YOU SUGGEST?

What our brides often find when they visit our boutiques is the use of different tones and base colours in our gowns. We have a very limited number of ‘white’ wedding gowns. Instead we often use what we like to call natural silks and laces and often use Alabaster or Oyster coloured silks underneath our laces. This creates a beautiful feature of the lace and the lace becomes more prominent with a darker tone underneath.  Again this look makes those more traditional lace style gowns a little more modern.

As I mentioned earlier we also love using gold’s and silvers for those unconventional brides.

TELL US, WHAT SHOULD A BRIDE FIRST CONSIDER WHEN DECIDING ON HER GOWN?

We have so many little handy hints of advice for brides who are making that final decision on their wedding gown.

Firstly, it’s important to stick to your own personal style and be true to yourself. If you never wear strapless dresses then a strapless probably isn’t the right choice for you. If you don’t like white, you don’t have to wear white. We are so fortunate these days that weddings aren’t as traditional and brides and grooms now have the freedom to wear what best represents them and if it’s not a white wedding gown then it doesn’t have to be.

For the brides who have lots of opinions to consider making the decision on a wedding gown can sometimes get tricky. It is always nice to have your mum, sisters, bridesmaids help you with the decision but sometimes so many opinions can leave brides dazed and confused. When this happens we always bring it back to the bride.  Sometimes you have to be a little selfish but at the end of the day it’s about you and how you want to look on your wedding day.  You don’t want to regret your wedding dress because it’s what your mum and your sister-in law wanted you to wear.

Another thing to think about is how your partner would want to see you on the day? Bring it back to the two of you and no one else.

It’s not uncommon for brides to be torn between two completely different styles of gowns. In this case, there will be one that sticks in your mind a little more than the other. There is always one that you are naturally drawn to and sometimes it’s something you would never have considered trying on.

I LOVE A VEIL BUT IT’S A QUESTION THAT MOST BRIDES BATTLE WITH, VEIL OR NO VEIL?

Oh, we love a veil! We will always try and convince our brides to wear a veil. During the construction process we wait until the gown is in it’s final stages so the bride can really see how she is going to look like on her day. We look at hair, jewellery and styling and it’s usually at this stage that the wedding emotions kick in and you realise it’s one of those traditions that really symbolise a wedding and when else do you get to wear a veil whilst walking down an aisle. Plus it makes for beautiful photos.

In saying that we completely understand sometimes it’s just not for them, which we completely respect. We have some beautiful headpieces by New York designer Jennifer Behr that are seriously stunning.

AND FINALLY, ANY WORDS OF ADVICE TO BRIDES FINDING IT DIFFICULT TO MAKE THE FINAL DECISION ON THE GOWN.

Take a moment to yourself away from everyone. Find a quiet place or go for a walk and think about how you want to look. What type of gown is going to suit your venue? What are you going to feel most comfortable in and how will your partner love to see you as you walk down the aisle?

Budget is always a big consideration. In our experience, most brides stretch their budget for the gown. Don’t compromise on quality and if you love it, find a way to shuffle your budget because at the end of the day if it’s the one, you won’t be able to get it out of your head and you want to feel the best version of yourself on the day!
