Luca and Giovanni: A Sicilian Love
What began with a chance meeting on a night out in April 2024 quickly became a relationship that took Luca and Giovanni from Milan to the Aeolian Islands, where they first realised they couldn’t imagine life without each other. A little over two years later, they returned to Sicily, this time with their closest family and friends, to marry and celebrate the life they had chosen to build together.

THEODORE Mag: How and when did you meet?
Luca and Giovanni: We met on April 21st, 2024, thanks to a mutual friend. We were simply supposed to go out together to a club that evening, and neither of us could have imagined what that night would mean for our future. It was just an ordinary night out, but somehow, it became the beginning of the most beautiful chapter of our lives. Looking back now, it feels like that night was meant to happen.
THEODORE Mag: Tell us a little about that first time you met…
Luca: I remember that first night very clearly. I was sitting in the back of the car with my friend, while Giovanni was driving. I kept noticing him looking at me through the rear-view mirror, and I remember wondering who this guy was.
When we arrived at the club, we introduced ourselves, and strangely enough, it felt like I had known him for much longer. It was a very natural feeling, even though we had just met.
Once inside, we didn’t really pay much attention to each other for a while. Then, at some point, Giovanni came over to me and said, “I think we already follow each other on Instagram.” And that was the moment we started talking.
It sounds like such a simple beginning, but looking back, that little conversation was the beginning of our story. We had no idea that night where it would eventually take us.
THEODORE Mag: Tell us about the standout moment or milestone in your relationship…
Luca and Giovanni: Our relationship was a little complicated at the beginning, because neither of us was completely free to start something new. But everything changed when we decided to take a trip together, just the two of us, to the Aeolian Islands, to Vulcano in Sicily.
Being there together, away from everything and everyone, gave us the chance to really understand what we felt for each other. During that trip, we realized that we had become much more than just two people getting to know each other. We realized that we couldn’t imagine our lives without each other anymore.
Looking back, that trip was the moment when everything became clear. It was the beginning of us choosing each other, and it eventually led us here, to becoming husbands.
THEODORE Mag: What does marriage mean to you?
Luca and Giovanni: For us, marriage means choosing each other every single day. It means being a team, sharing the beautiful moments as well as the difficult ones, and knowing that whatever happens, we will always have each other by our side.
After everything we have been through together, getting married means more than just celebrating our love. It is a promise to continue building our life together, to support each other, to grow together, and to never stop choosing each other.
For us, marriage means coming home to the person you love and knowing that, no matter where life takes you, you are exactly where you are meant to be, together.
THEODORE Mag: Who proposed and how?
Giovanni: It was Luca who proposed to me. It happened on August 21st, 2025, exactly one year before our wedding.
We were on a road trip around Sicily with some of our closest friends, and that day we were in Marsala, at the Saline Genna. Luca had been waiting for the perfect moment, and as the sun was setting over the salt pans, he finally asked me to marry him.
It was a beautiful and very emotional moment, made even more special by the place, the sunset, and the fact that we were surrounded by the people we love.
And perhaps the most incredible part is that exactly one year later, on August 22nd, 2026, we were standing in front of all our loved ones, becoming husbands.
THEODORE Mag: When did you get married?
Luca and Giovanni: We got married on August 22nd, 2026, in Milazzo, Sicily.
It was a day we had dreamed about for so long, surrounded by our family, our closest friends, and all the people who have been part of our journey. After everything we had shared together, finally being able to call each other husbands was an incredibly special feeling.
It was the beginning of a new chapter in our lives, but also the celebration of everything that brought us to that moment.
THEODORE Mag: What was the main influence behind your wedding day?
Luca and Giovanni: The main inspiration behind our wedding day was definitely Sicily and its natural beauty. We wanted the whole day to feel elegant, fresh, and connected to the place we love.
We chose a pastel colour palette inspired by the soft colours of the Sicilian landscape, and we wanted the flowers to reflect that natural, timeless feeling. We chose white and green hydrangeas, keeping everything soft and delicate.
We wanted our wedding to feel authentic to us, and to Sicily, surrounded by nature, beautiful colours, and the people we love most.
THEODORE Mag: What was the most important thing to you surrounding your wedding?
Luca and Giovanni: The most important thing for us was creating a truly special atmosphere for all the people we love. We wanted our guests to feel happy, welcomed, and part of our story.
More than anything, we wanted everyone to enjoy the day, create beautiful memories, and feel the love and happiness that we felt in that moment. Having all our loved ones there to celebrate with us was what made the day truly unforgettable.
THEODORE Mag: Did you incorporate any family sentiments or traditions?
Luca and Giovanni: We didn’t incorporate any specific family traditions into our wedding. We wanted the day to reflect who we are as a couple and the life we have built together. For us, the most important thing was having our families and loved ones there to share such a meaningful moment with us.
THEODORE Mag: Where did you find the bulk of your inspiration?
Luca and Giovanni: Most of our inspiration came from Sicily itself. We wanted to take inspiration from its colours, landscapes, nature, and the beauty of the Mediterranean.
The location also played a big part in our choices. We wanted everything to feel harmonious with the surroundings, so we chose soft pastel colours, natural elements, and white and green hydrangeas.
In the end, we simply wanted to create a wedding that felt like us and captured the beauty and atmosphere of Sicily.
THEODORE Mag: How did you choose your suppliers?
Luca and Giovanni: Choosing our suppliers was a very personal process for us. We spent a lot of time researching, looking at their work, talking to different people, and trying to understand who really shared our vision.
We were quite particular because this was our wedding, and we wanted every detail to feel right and to represent us. We didn’t want to choose someone just because they were available or popular. We wanted people we could trust and who could help us create the atmosphere we had imagined.
We put a lot of time, research, and emotion into those choices because, for us, every little detail mattered.
THEODORE Mag: What was the most difficult thing about planning your wedding?
Luca and Giovanni: Without a doubt, the biggest challenge was the distance. We live in Milan, while our wedding was in Sicily, so we had to organise almost everything from far away. There were so many decisions to make, and sometimes it was hard not being able to see things, check things, and be there in person.
But honestly, I think the hardest part was that we cared so much about making everything perfect. We had imagined this day for such a long time, and we wanted every little detail to be exactly the way we had dreamed it.
There were definitely moments of stress and doubt, but we always reminded ourselves why we were doing it. In the end, all those months of planning, travelling, phone calls, messages, and decisions were leading to one single day: the day we would finally celebrate our love surrounded by everyone we love.
And now, looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing. It was all worth it.
THEODORE Mag: Where did you spend your honeymoon?
Luca and Giovanni: We decided to make our honeymoon a little different and split it into two parts.
Right after the wedding, we travelled to Greece, where we could finally relax and enjoy some time together after all the excitement and planning. It was the perfect way to start this new chapter of our lives as husbands.
But our honeymoon isn’t over yet! In January, we’ll be travelling to Thailand for the second part. We wanted to have another special adventure to look forward to together, so in a way, our honeymoon is giving us two beautiful celebrations instead of one.
THEODORE Mag: Any advice for other couples planning their day and finding it difficult to navigate the journey?
Luca and Giovanni: Our biggest advice would be to never lose sight of why you are doing it. Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, especially when you want everything to be perfect, and there will inevitably be moments of stress and doubt.
Try to enjoy the journey as much as the wedding day itself. Make decisions together, trust your instincts, and don’t let the little things take away from what really matters.
At the end of the day, the flowers, the decorations, the details and even the things that don’t go exactly as planned are not what you will remember most. What you will remember is how you felt, the person standing next to you, and having all the people you love there to celebrate with you.
So our advice is simple: enjoy every moment, choose each other, and remember that the wedding is just one beautiful day — the real adventure is everything that comes after it.
