Miguel and Alvaro: Magic in Marrakech
Having been together for over 18 years, Miguel and Alvaro ventured into a new chapter together in their new home, as it was here where Alvero proposed to Miguel. Following the proposal, Miguel and Alvaro opted for a small, intimate wedding ceremony in Madrid, shared with close family and friends. However, the celebration didn’t end there; they jetted off to Marrakech the following month and joyously celebrated their marriage with a grand party that included 300 special guests.

How and when did you meet?
We met over 18 years ago at a friend’s party in Madrid.
Tell us a little about that first time you met…
Alvaro: WhatsApp didn’t exist back then, so Miguel left his phone number on a napkin after a Spanish party. That same night I called Miguel and asked to meet him at a disco.
What was the first thing you noticed about each other?
Miguel: Alvaro was so tunned… haha.
Alvaro: Miguel was a little shy, and he didn’t talk to me; he was like trying to be cool.
Tell us about the standout moments in your relationship…
Miguel and Alvaro: We have been together for more than 18 years, so we have a lot. Our first trip together, Alvaro moving to Chicago and then to Beijing, and Miguel coming to visit many times.
What does marriage mean to you?
Miguel and Alvaro: Engagement with each other; it’s another step in our relationship to be a family.
Who proposed and how?
Alvaro: I proposed to Miguel. We recently moved to our new home (we worked hard for years to get it and spent long hours designing every detail together). So the first night in our new apartment, even before we got our furniture in, I asked Miguel to be my husband. The next day we had a trip to the Maldives to celebrate!
When did you get married?
Miguel and Alvaro: We first had a ceremony with family and close friends at home; it was exciting and sentimental. A month later, we had a grand party for 300 friends in Marrakech.

Any advice for other couples planning their day and finding it difficult to navigate the journey?
