Was it love at first sight for these two brides? Verity and Carly had been in and out of each other's lives for numerous years, but it wasn't until a conversation between the two would change their worlds forever. "We had more things in common than we knew had, and a bond that then became instant", say the girls.

How and when did you meet?

We met through mutual friends and were in and out of each other's lives for years, until one night, a conversation struck that we didn't know at the time would change our world's as we once knew it. We had more things in common than we knew had, and a bond that then became instant.

What was the first thing you noticed about each other?

Carly: I had always noticed Verity's smile and how it would light up the room, a genuine appreciation for the happiness her smile showed.

What has been the standout moment in your relationship?

Verity: The proposal. It was everything I could have dreamt of and more. Carly made me feel like a queen! It's a moment I will cherish forever.

What does Marriage mean to you?

Marriage to us means choosing that person every single day. Most importantly, getting to have a sleepover with your best friend every single night.

Who proposed, and how?

Carly: Verity decided to book a last-minute holiday to Bali. Without hesitation, I thought there was no better time than now to propose; I had two weeks to pick the perfect ring and plan the perfect proposal.

On the first night of our holiday I took Verity out for dinner and drinks at La Laguna, little did Verity know her life was about to change.

I got down on one knee as the sun was setting and popped the question, and of course, Verity said YES!

After the proposal, I organised a romantic dinner, along with the most expensive Champagne that had us both wasted before the night even ended, and a slow dance to the song that would be our first dance as a married couple.

When did you get married?

On the 9th of November 2019 at Vue on Halcyon. We went to Vue on Halcyon randomly for breakfast, this was before the law had changed. As soon as we walked in we both said we will get married here one day.

What was the main influence behind your wedding day?

It was so important our personalities shone through every inch of our wedding. Simple, classy and yet oh so dramatic!

What was the most important thing to you surrounding your wedding?

As EQUAL is the fight we had all been fighting for, that was what our day was about. There was no part of the wedding that wasn't for both of us. We were both equals on our wedding day, and it was about us, together.

Were there any surprises on your wedding day?

Carly : I had organised two 1955 Jaguars as a gift. I know Verity so well that I knew the Jaguars would complement what I thought would be her dress... and it did!

What was the most difficult thing about planning your wedding?

We struggled to find inspirational photos of two young feminine woman that were both in dresses. We hope our photos can help future same-sex couples with their wedding planning.

Where did you spend your honeymoon?

Bali! Back to where it all began.

Any advice for other couples planning their day and finding it difficult to navigate the journey?

Stay positive, communicate and listen to each other. Things can get stressful, but it isn't worth the little fights. The day is about the two of you. Enjoy every single moment of the planning and try and take a little time out on the big day for the one another.
