10 Easy Ways To Save Money On Your Wedding
We're not going to sugarcoat this, weddings can be expensive. But don't let this scare you. You can still have the wedding of your dreams and STILL save on costs. Here are Mr Theodore’s top 10 ways to save money on your wedding.

1. Cut Down On Your Guest List
By reducing the number of guests, you can save $ 1000's in total.
As an example, say the cost per person for a dinner sits at $120, and then the drinks package on average can sit from $50 upwards, that's a total of $170 per guest just for dinner. By cutting your guest list by only 15, you've already saved $2,550.
2. Have A Smaller Wedding Party
Believe it or not, having a smaller wedding party will also save you in the long run. Remembering that for each wedding party member, there is the cost of attire, flowers, hair, makeup. Plus, the larger the wedding party, the more transport you need. It all adds up.
3. Mismatched Wedding Attire For Your Wedding Party
If a wedding party is for you, why not opt for mismatched attire which allows your wedding party members to buy their own according to their taste. This allows them to wear it again. If you go a uniformed wedding party it's a little cheeky to ask everyone to pay for their own attire don't you think?
4. Recycle The Styling
This is a big one. Go to town with styling your ceremony. But then once the ceremony is over, have your team reuse all the styling elements for the reception and have them move everything over. Aisle flowers become centrepieces, and large arrangements become statement pieces.
5. Share Food
Another way to keep costs down is to opt for a sharing menu rather than individual plates.
Sharing menus are also a great way to get guests to interact with each other at the table, particularly if you have people sitting with people they don't know.
6. No Cocktail Hour
A cocktail hour is a great way to transition from ceremony to reception. However, if you're trying to save some money, why not skip the cocktail hour altogether.
Opt for photos before the ceremony, so that you don't need to disappear in between. Push your ceremony time a little later and then once the ceremony is over, serve a round of drinks for 20 minutes and then move straight into dinner.
7. Friday Wedding
Did you know that opting for a wedding day other than a Saturday can also save you money?
Minimum spends are often at a maximum for a Saturday wedding, Sunday comes in next and then Fridays. What a great reason for your guests to take the day off work, and then you still all have the entire weekend to recover.
8. Off-season Wedding
Growing in popularity is off-season weddings, mean that the wedding is often less expensive, such as in Winter.
Speak to your venue to see what the season dates are. Having a winter wedding is one way some many couples keep their costs down.
9. No favours
Wedding favours can be a huge expense, and more often than not, unnecessary. Spending $15 per person can accumulate to $1,200 (based on 80 guests). That's $1,200 on gifts that guests often forget, loose, or leave in the Uber on the way home.
10. No Photobooth
We do love a photobooth, but if you're serious about saving on some money then perhaps leave this out.
Photobooths can cost up to $200 per hour. Instead, why not purchase a polaroid camera or two, and give them to someone (responsible) to capture some moments.
Or, remember the days when disposable cameras were left on the table for guests to use at their own leisure – some of the best photos we've ever seen have come from those.
