-
“The room was read perfectly and people were dancing ALL NIGHT.” We came across this review of One More Song on Google and it had us intrigued to find out more about this oh-so-popular Melbourne based event entertainment agency.
Born out of the desire to offer premium level entertainment with a strong focus on client service that is more competitively priced, especially for weddings, Aleks and Eddy Mac launched One More Song.
With both founders coming from a background in events and music, the duo have built a successful entertainment agency that is set to be with you every step of the way to your big day.
Guiding you through all your wedding entertainment needs, One More Song know exactly how important it is for you to have the right music on your wedding day, because as they say themselves “The right music will make your day extra special”… that sounds pretty damn good to us.
Sitting down with Aleks and Eddy, we had the opportunity to delve a little further into the wedding world of One More Song and ask them just a few questions we thought you would want to ask too.
We’ve touched on this briefly, but it your words, what is One More Song?
One More Song is a Melbourne-based entertainment agency providing DJs and live musicians for weddings and other events. As well as being owners of the business, we are both DJs ourselves. We’re very hands on, working with clients from initial enquiry through to DJing at many of the weddings we book!
What services do you offer?
We provide a variety of talent for weddings including DJs, live musicians (saxophonists, percussionists, acoustic artists, bands and strings), and singers. We also provide standard sound/PA equipment, which includes set up/pack down and wireless microphones, and optional (non-cheesy!) lighting. Our services also include consulting closely with clients, from making recommendations as broad as the type of entertainment that will suit a client’s wedding vision, right through to genres and specifics songs for key moments of the day.
What is unique about One More Song?
There are three key features that set us apart:
1) we spend more time with our clients in the lead up to their wedding.
2) we (the owners) are active in all facets of the business.
3) we only work with entertainers who are reliable and easy to deal with (we have a strict “no divas” policy!).
How long before the wedding should a couple get in touch?
It depends on the time of the year you’re looking at booking. If it’s during peak wedding season (November to April), as soon as you can! We can get booked 12-18 months in advance for peak season. Winter is quieter, but we still advise on enquiring early on in the planning process.
Tell us about the process couples can expect selecting their music needs through you?
We provide an initial quote over email and usually meet with potential clients face-to-face to discuss details about their wedding, talk all things music and answer any questions they have. Once they’ve confirmed they would like to book, a 50 percent part payment locks in the entertainers, with the balance due two weeks before the big day.
During the lead up, we consult with clients to get a detailed music brief – what to play, what to avoid and key moment songs (eg entrances and first dance), as well as advise on the running sheet (for maximum dancing time!). We may meet with clients face-to-face again as well as liaise over email and phone. We also work with the venue to arrange set up of equipment and liaise with other suppliers (eg celebrants) as required. During the week of the wedding, we have a call with the clients to run over any last minute changes and final details!
And personally, what’s your favourite moment of a wedding?
The song played after the first dance – this is when the party really gets started!
Any personal favourite tunes you think couples should include in their mix?
So many to pick from and it does depend on personal preferences, but it’s always good to include classic wedding tunes everyone loves to dance to, like Ain’t No Mountain High Enough (Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell), something newer like Uptown Funk (Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars) and some disco thrown in for good measure – we love Shake Your Booty (KC & The Sunshine Band)!
