Wallaringa Farm is a breathtaking escape in the Hunter Valley. What inspired you to open up your property to weddings and celebrations?
Thank you for saying so! After our first year of welcoming farm stay guests from near and far, we were deeply moved by their feedback—so many people spoke about the sense of peace they felt here, how they instantly connected with the land, the quiet, and that golden afternoon light. It became clear that Wallaringa was more than just a place to stay—it was a place where people could slow down and connect. Opening it up for intimate weddings and elopements felt like a natural next step. We wanted to create a space where couples could celebrate their love in a way that felt honest, beautiful, and deeply personal.
There’s a sense of quiet luxury and authenticity at Wallaringa. How would you describe the feeling couples have when they arrive for the first time?
Guests always mention the moment they round the bend in the road and the white farmhouse comes into view—it feels like you’ve stumbled across something special, a little hidden haven. There’s a stillness to the place, with the wide-open skies, the rolling hills, the scent of eucalyptus in the air. It’s calming. Grounding. People often say it feels like home, even though they’ve only just arrived.
Can you share a little about the history of the property and how that has shaped its design and ethos today?
Wallaringa’s roots are humble—it’s long been a working beef cattle farm, and that simplicity is still very much part of its charm. When we took on the original brick home, we gave it a lot of love—keeping the bones but opening it right up to showcase what we think is Wallaringa’s greatest feature: that view. The design leans into open spaces, natural light, and materials that feel grounded and connected to the land. It’s a mix of old and new, rustic and refined—and that balance really shapes everything we do.
What kind of couple do you feel is most drawn to Wallaringa Farm?
The couples who choose Wallaringa are usually looking for something honest and intentional. They’re not after a big production—they want a celebration that feels deeply personal, whether it’s just the two of them or a small circle of loved ones. They care about the little things—good food, a cosy fire, locally grown flowers—and they value connection over tradition.
How flexible is the space for weddings—can couples really make it their own?
Absolutely. That’s one of the things we love most—seeing each couple bring their own style and energy to the space. We keep our packages simple, with just the essentials, and then offer a range of dreamy add-ons to help elevate the experience. It means there’s plenty of room for creativity. Whether it’s a barefoot ceremony beneath the gums, a long-table dinner at golden hour, or a picnic-style elopement with cosy rugs and champagne—it’s all possible. The property is your canvas.
Nature seems to play such a big role in the experience at Wallaringa. How does the surrounding landscape influence the way weddings unfold here?
Nature really sets the tone at Wallaringa. The seasons, the shifting light, the open landscape—it all shapes the day in the most beautiful, effortless way. Ceremonies often time themselves with sunset, when the hills turn golden and the horses wander through the paddocks (which makes for pretty magical photos). In spring, the place feels lush and full of life. In winter, the fire pit becomes the heart of the evening. Couples lean into that rhythm—it keeps everything grounded, honest, and real.
What’s one of the most memorable wedding moments you’ve witnessed on the property?
There have been so many special moments, but one that really stands out is a couple who chose to elope—just the two of them. I was asked to step in as a witness, along with our lovely photographer. They held a morning ceremony in late autumn, with a light frost on the grass and soft mist rising over the paddocks. The morning light was gentle, birdsong in the air… it was magic. They read handwritten vows under the trees, then shared a quiet toast with champagne and the most beautiful strawberry and watermelon cake. It was simple, heartfelt, and full of laughter and tears. There wasn’t a dry eye—including ours. It was one of those moments that really reminds you what it’s all about.
Looking ahead, how do you see Wallaringa evolving or growing in the wedding space?
We’re committed to keeping things small and meaningful. Our heart is in elopements and intimate celebrations—those soulful, slow weddings that feel more like a gathering than a production. We’re continuing to collaborate with like-minded local creatives—florists, photographers, chefs—to offer thoughtful packages that take the stress out of planning, while keeping that sense of heart and authenticity. Our hope is to keep nurturing Wallaringa as a sanctuary for couples who want to begin their next chapter somewhere beautiful and full of love.
