Carlos and Nicolás: Summer Love

For Spanish couple Carlos and Nicolàs, their wedding celebration truly captures the core of who they are.

The Eleven People founders met in Madrid back in 2015 and celebrated their love earlier this year, surrounded by the people who matter most.

“Marriage to us means union, commitment, respect for the person you have by your side. And it means recognition and equality. It means family.”

How and when did you meet?

Nicolás: Carlos worked in a clothing store located in Calle Barquillo in Madrid and I was a customer, but we had never seen each other. On  January 6, 2015, I entered the store to buy a birthday present for my father and when I opened the door and saw Carlos behind the counter, we stared at each other and we felt like we had finally found each other.

Who proposed and how?

Carlos: Nico did. It all happened in Biarritz, on a cliff at night, with the sound of the sea in the background and under the moonlight. It was my birthday, and Nico wanted to celebrate it with a proposal.

What does Marriage mean to you?

It means union, commitment, respect for the person you have by your side. And it means recognition and equality. It means family.

When did you get married?

18th September 2021.

Carlos and Nico’s story continues below

What was the main influence behind your wedding day?

We both had it very clear from the beginning. We wanted it to be at the end of the summer and outdoors, surrounded by nature.

What was the most important thing to you surrounding your wedding?

We wanted to create a very special environment. We were going to be surrounded by all the people we wanted, therefore the atmosphere created had to be perfect and for people to enjoy and have a fantastic day with us.

Where did you find your inspiration?

We wanted the wedding to reflect our style. We have a life project together, but also a work project, Eleven People, which is our candle workshop,  where we reflect our lifestyle. The wedding was simply one more opportunity to do what we like the most - decorate. Candles, flowers,  furniture with history ... we had it all.

How did you choose your suppliers?

We are extremely lucky to know all of our suppliers beforehand. Paula,  the florist, is like another sister, and with Jesus, her friend, we connect as soon as we meet. Cris, the photographer, we've known her for years. Carla, who sang at the ceremony, was a recommendation from Clara, Nico´s little sister. We also met Javi, the master of ceremony, Esther and Nacho, we were already customers of their restaurants and they are friends of Nico´s father who created a special blend of coffee for the wedding.

Where did you spend your honeymoon?

It is a pending plan. We could not go anywhere for work reasons.

Any advice for other couples planning their day and finding it difficult to navigate the journey?

Just relax and if you can't organise it, you should ask a professional to do it, but both the days before and more especially, the wedding day, it is a day to enjoy, because it is the best day of your life.
