Mitch and Liam: Intimate and Deeply Considered
Set against the old-world grandeur of Rosemont Homestead, Mitch and Liam’s wedding was an intimate, joy-filled celebration of everything that matters most to them. With just 50 of their closest people in attendance, their intimate wedding unfolded across the private property in a way that felt effortless, personal and deeply considered.

“Marriage for us is about the beginning of our own family. It’s about creating a meaningful life together that is fun, silly, full of love with our family and friends and hopefully a couple of little kids running around…”
How and when did you meet?
Liam and Mitch: We met through friends while Melbourne was in and out of lockdown in 2020.
Tell us a little about that first time you met…
Liam and Mitch: We spent the night by a fire pit, drinking wine and playing board games with our mutual friends. Our friends noticed our connection and did well to make themselves scarce throughout the night, giving us space to connect more deeply. It was clear we had the same sense of humour, values and love of dirty martinis.
What was the first thing you noticed about each other?
Liam and Mitch: We wish we could say it was love at first sight, but this was definitely a slow burn! We always say timing is everything, and so it worked out perfectly for us. COVID initially slowed things down, but when we were finally able to spend more time together, we were all in.
Tell us about the standout moments in your relationship…
Mitch: One of our most special/memorable times together was only a couple of weeks after our first date, and Liam came camping with my friends and me. This weekend was so special for us as we developed a connection we had never felt before. We were so comfortable with each other after such a short period of time, we could be silly, ridiculous and 100% ourselves. We reflect on this weekend often, and both agree this is when we realised we loved each other and that this would be a forever thing. Although it took us a little longer to say this to each other, we definitely felt it over this weekend.
What does marriage mean to you?
Liam and Mitch: Marriage for us is about the beginning of our own family. It's about creating a meaningful life together that is fun, silly, full of love with our family and friends and hopefully a couple of little kids running around.
Who proposed and how?
Liam: Mitch decided to propose in March while we were away celebrating my birthday and our two-year anniversary. We went to a winery for lunch, and Mitch had organised a picnic in the vineyards. We had Fleetwood Mac playing in the background, reminiscing on the past two years together, and Mitch knew the time was right. It's not often that Mitch cries, so I thought something bad had happened; however, I was overwhelmed when Mitch finally asked me to marry him. We spent the rest of the week celebrating, and when we got back to Melbourne, our closest friends were hiding in our house to surprise me, and the celebrations continued for the next couple of days.
When did you get married?
Liam and Mitch: February 8th 2025
What was the main influence behind your wedding day?
Liam and Mitch: Our main priority was to have the day on a private property so we could have freedom to do whatever we wanted. Our planner Laura, took us to Rosemont Homestead, and it was love at first sight! Rosemont has so many beautiful locations, which meant the day was progressive around the property. Our guests loved spending time in each area and still talk about how great the service was and how beautiful the property is.
What was the most important thing to you surrounding your wedding?
Liam and Mitch: We wanted the day to have a sense of intimacy, which is why we kept the numbers to 50 people. We wanted to make sure we had our most important people there and that everyone felt special. Having fewer numbers meant we could also spend more money on things that were important to us, like the food, drinks and music.
Where did you find the bulk of your inspiration?
Liam and Mitch: We were lucky to have our planner Laura from 'Wedding of Desire', leading every aspect of the day. She was truly amazing and made the planning process and day feel effortless. She has such an amazing eye for detail - she even created a Martini tower!
How did you choose your suppliers?
Liam and Mitch: We always knew we wanted the amazing acoustic duo from Tobi Tobi to play, and via their Instagram we found Laura from 'Wedding of Desire'. The rest was straightforward - we had a lot of trust in Laura and were guided by her expertise in the industry. Our celebrant, Candy Salvatore from 'Celebrate with your Mate' is a friend of a friend, and we really wanted to have someone familiar up there with us - Candy was amazing and had the perfect balance of romance, intimacy and humour.
What was the most difficult thing about planning your wedding?
Liam and Mitch: Our one job was organising the alcohol - Mitch was having nightmares right up to the day that we wouldn't have enough! Other than that, we really did not have to worry about anything - we were very lucky to have our vendors, as they made the process stress-free.
Where did you spend your honeymoon?
Liam and Mitch: We did a road trip around the New Zealand South Island - what an incredibly beautiful place!
Any advice for other couples planning their day and finding it difficult to navigate the journey?
Liam and Mitch: Make decisions that align with your values and how you want the day to feel, not based on the expectations of others.
